F4:Profile of a Line Validation
From F4 Wiki
More actions
Summary
F4 validates profile of a line against the ASME logic in the F4 Application and enforces application, datum, modifier, and pattern rules.
Validation rules
- Profile of a line cannot be linked to a feature of size in F4.
- Prohibited modifiers: diameter, LMC, MMC, projected tolerance zone.
- True profile must be located using basic or toleranced dimensions.
- Pattern application is allowed.
- If the profile is applied to a datum surface, F4 flags ambiguity.
- When basic dimensions are used, they must relate the true profile to the referenced datums.
Warnings and errors
F4 behavior
- True profile not located
If the true profile is not located with basic or toleranced dimensions, F4 flags non-compliance.
F4 behavior
- Ambiguous datum surface
If the profile is applied to a surface referenced as a datum feature, F4 flags ambiguity.
F4 behavior
- Basic dimensions not related to datums
When basic dimensions are used, they must relate the true profile to the referenced datums.
F4 behavior
- Prohibited modifiers
Diameter, LMC, MMC, and projected tolerance zone are not allowed on profile of a line.
F4 behavior
- FOS linkage not allowed
Profile of a line must not be linked to a feature of size in F4.
Examples
- Valid: profile of a line located by basic dimensions relative to datums.
- Invalid: profile applied to a datum surface or missing true profile location.
