F4:Cylindricity Validation

From F4 Wiki

Author: Admin

Summary

F4 validates cylindricity against the ASME logic in the F4 Application and enforces feature-type, modifier, and pattern rules.

Validation rules

  • Cylindricity is valid only for a cylindrical surface.
  • Cylindricity cannot reference datums.
  • Cylindricity cannot be applied to a pattern.
  • FOS linkage is not allowed for cylindricity in F4.
  • Prohibited modifiers: diameter, LMC, MMC, projected tolerance zone, tangent plane, unequally disposed.

Warnings and errors

F4 behavior

Invalid feature type

If the FCF is applied to anything other than a cylindrical surface, F4 flags non-compliance.

F4 behavior

Pattern not allowed

Cylindricity applied to a pattern is rejected.

F4 behavior

Datum references

Any datum reference in a cylindricity FCF is rejected.

F4 behavior

FOS linkage not allowed

Cylindricity must not be linked to a feature of size in F4.

F4 behavior

Prohibited modifiers

Diameter, LMC, MMC, projected tolerance zone, tangent plane, and unequally disposed are not allowed on cylindricity.

Examples

  • Valid: cylindricity on a cylindrical surface with no datums.
  • Invalid: cylindricity with a datum reference or applied to a pattern.
