Summary
F4 validates cylindricity against the ASME logic in the F4 Application and enforces feature-type, modifier, and pattern rules.
Validation rules
- Cylindricity is valid only for a cylindrical surface.
- Cylindricity cannot reference datums.
- Cylindricity cannot be applied to a pattern.
- FOS linkage is not allowed for cylindricity in F4.
- Prohibited modifiers: diameter, LMC, MMC, projected tolerance zone, tangent plane, unequally disposed.
Warnings and errors
F4 behavior
- Invalid feature type
If the FCF is applied to anything other than a cylindrical surface, F4 flags non-compliance.
F4 behavior
- Pattern not allowed
Cylindricity applied to a pattern is rejected.
F4 behavior
- Datum references
Any datum reference in a cylindricity FCF is rejected.
F4 behavior
- FOS linkage not allowed
Cylindricity must not be linked to a feature of size in F4.
F4 behavior
- Prohibited modifiers
Diameter, LMC, MMC, projected tolerance zone, tangent plane, and unequally disposed are not allowed on cylindricity.
Examples
- Valid: cylindricity on a cylindrical surface with no datums.
- Invalid: cylindricity with a datum reference or applied to a pattern.
